Glucose

Last week I had my Gestational Diabeties test with the delicious fruit punch glucose drink.  I failed it.
Not something that I am happy to report but the story goes on.
On Monday, I reported back to the doctor's office to do the 3 hour glucose test with the same drink and a finger prick every hour for 3 hours.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be because I got to leave and run some errands between pricks.

I got a phone call this morning that my LAST finger prick was abnormal and the doctor wants me to go back for a fasting prick then come back 2 hours after eating.
I don't mind the going to the doctor part
and the prick isn't bad either

It's knowing that it is another thing on my list that makes me a high maintenance patient at the OB.
-Previous big baby
-Previous C-section
-Possible undiagnosed gestational diabetes previously
-no thyroid
-checking thyroid hormone levels every 4 weeks and raising my prescription accordingly
-Cysts on the brain (that have dissolved, Honey had them too and it hasn't affected her at all)
-weird position of child making me come back for another sono to get the spine
-and now glucose abnormalities.

I am glad that I can grow humans though.
and I think I do a pretty good job even though I think it is HARD

Honey's Paint Job

Honey Started in this room when we moved here but it is right by the front door and I was afraid that any little knock was waking her up so we moved her to this room.

Here is the room without the stuff.

Paint samples of the colors we like.
Prep Work
Spackle!
Me nailing the vertical boards
Honey getting excited
After the white paint (it's got a blue tint)
More Prep Work!
This is us actually making POCERN (POPCORN)
She used to have a set of purple and yellow furniture that kind of took up the whole room.  We moved the crib out to the other room for the new person coming soon.  She gets the "big girl bed" and a new dresser that I haven't found yet.  I am hoping to find the perfect piece that I don't have to do anything too but if I have to paint it I will get to use my new power sander!
The grey is called Dolfin fin.  It is a grey that has a greenish tint.

NOTE::  I am usually happy with frog tape (green painters tape that has something on the edges that seals against paint) but this time, I am extremely disappointed in the results.  I have some bleeding edges EVERYWHERE.  but I am pregnant and don't mind enough to spend the hours and money to fix it.  maybe some day but over all I am happy with the look.

Lots has Happened

Let's start with the Triathlon.  As mentioned before, I was 10 weeks pregnant.  A lot of people say "I can't believe you did that 10 weeks pregnant" but I say "how could I not?".  I worked really hard for a long time to train I was/am really proud of myself for accomplishing it.
The night before the Triathlon, I spent the night in a hotel with my friend that I was training with.
Sorry the photo is sideways but you can't really see me anyway, it just gives you the idea right?  This is where everyone came out of the water after swimming almost half a mile.

I believe this is coming in from the 14 mile bike ride.  It was probably the hardest part of the Tri because I didn't know how far I had gone until I got to the turn around point.  I only passed one person while on the bike, though I did pass her like 10 times.

Honey cheering me on

The last few steps to the finish line.  I almost broke down and bawled on this last tenth of a mile.  I had finally accomplished something I had thought about for a long time.  I say right now it is my biggest accomplishment.  It was really hard.  This year, I plan to tackle the half marathon... Possibly whole marathon

I think this is actually coming in from the swim... yeah because I am barefoot.

What I Learned About Puppies

I don't want one.

EVER.

They are worse than babies and the cuteness only lasts till they poop for the second time on your kitchen floor.

Just like babies they pee all the time.
UNlike babies, they don't wear diapers (I almost put one on the poor boy).

How did I learn this?  We puppysat a little I don't know what breed it was for a few days.  It was supposed to be for the 2 weeks around Christmas but decided to go to Arizona instead of be alone.  For the 4 nights/3days that we had him he didn't bark much but was a major peeing machine.  Anytime I walked by the kitchen he would get excited and pee little droplets all over the place.  Every morning I woke up to poop in front of the fridge.  On Sunday night we decided to go to AZ and I was glad the owner was ok with us taking him to the place he had planned to take him.

afternote** After taking him to the boarding place, I went home and mopped my kitchen floor twice.  There was no dog smell when we returned from AZ.
I want an old lazy dog once we have the right yard.

One Without Pictures

I have had a hard time updating because I need to get all the new photos I have taken off of my phone and onto the computer and the same thing with the camera and GoodLookings phone.  Instead of making ya'll wait longer I will just do an information update with pictures coming when I feel guilty enough.

In September I finally did my Triathlon!! I didn't make my goal of under 2 hours and I blame that on being 10 weeks pregnant.  I went back and forth for the 4 weeks leading up to it whether or not I would actually do it but I decided that a little thing such as the little person inside me was not a big enough reason to give up all that I had already put into it.  So I did it in 2 hours and 20 ish minutes and I got a number, medal, towel, T-shirt, and swim cap to prove it.  It was a very had thing for me to do and I felt so good about it when I was done.  I want to do another one at some point in my life when I am not pregnant but my goal for next year is a half marathon... possibly a full marathon.

October was my actual birthday.  The 29th came and GoodLooking ordered pizza for lunch.  I couldn't keep it down... In fact, I didn't keep anything down after about 10 am.  I slept, tried to eat, threw up, and worried all day till I went to the ER at about 11 pm for hydration and a shot of Zofran.  Needless to say, it was a terrible day and I was glad I had decided to REALLY celebrate my birthday while GoodLookings sister is here.

In November, Smalls came the week before Thanksgiving.  She came in at midnight before Friday happened and GoodLooking picked her up.  Originally, I was supposed to pick her up but that was decided before I was pregnant.  On Friday, she got to come up my gender ultrasound where we found out we are having a BOY!!  a BOY, oh boy!  I don't know what to do with a boy.  Boys are weird and different and not a girl.  I am sure I will learn.  but a BOY!
For Thanksgiving with Smalls we had turkey, jello mold, pineapple celery, potato casserole from scratch, crescent rolls, and green beans I think with peach sour cream pie and blueberry pie.  It was so nice having her here for a whole week!  It was really hard to let her go back... and we almost didn't do it... JK
For real Thanksgiving one of GoodLookings co-workers, his wife, two kids, and wifes best friend came and also the missionaries.  It was great.  We did another Turkey, bought rolls, made cranberry sauce, potato casserole from scratch, green beans, and bought stuffing.  The friend brought a spicy turkey, rice, and beet salad.  Everything was good and we had a good time with them and also had Lemon sour cream pie and pumpkin pie that we ordered from a friend that was fund raising and boy it was good.
On Black Friday we went to Hobby Lobby and bought a 7.5 foot Christmas tree! and at Home Depot we got an awesome deal on ornaments and a space heater to help keep GoodLooking warm (sorry to Smalls for not getting it while she was here).

Now it's December, The tree is up, all my cool decorations that I have made over the years and we can listen to Christmas music and soon we will drive around to look at lights.  Honey and I went for a walk today and she loved the blow up snowmen and Santa and all the deers.

What What

Life has been quite busy as of late.
We finally got our car back 2 weeks ago and it looks great, like nothing happened... but it did, I assure you.

My parents came and visited us and brought some furniture.  We shopped around at the local antique stores and a few pawn shops. Then, I went with them to Dallas for a week for a beautiful wedding celebration.  Then on to homeland for 2 weeks visiting with everyone and enjoying general merriment. I didn't forget to workout just because I was on vacation.  I used two different gyms and got most of my workouts in.

Honey got sick in homeland... sick I tell you.  Fever, barfy, cranky, sleepy, and cuddley.  I took her to the minute clinic and they strep tested her and found it negative.  I took her to a pediatrician to make her dad happy and he said it was just a virus going around to make sure she doesn't get dehydrated or worse.

I swam in the lake yesterday.  It was gross getting out there because the sand was really soft and squishy and had shells and grass in it. but once I got to a point where I didn't have to tough it was fine.  I even put my face in the water and swam laps around buoys.  This training for a triathlon has made me do things I wouldn't normally do like workout hard on vacation and for realz swim in a lake.
GoodLooking started work as a supervisor and starts working nights at some point.

We have an anniversary coming up soon. Six years is a long time.  The longest time I ever dated anyone that is for sure by a long shot.  Six years.  We sure have done a lot of things in that time.
We have: lived in 4 states, 4 apartments (one of them twice), and 1 home.  Visited over half of the United States, been to 6 beaches in 2 oceans.  We have been to Scotland, built and attempted to sleep in an igloo in Idaho in February, and successfully stayed a night in an old southern mansion/civil war hospital (converted into a B&B). We have a 19 month old child.  and a lot more.
